Barry Finan grew up in Ontario, Canada during the depression, spending many happy hours drawing. What began as a pleasant escape from difficult times eventually lead to an award winning career as a Commercial Art Director that spanned 25 Years.
After his retirement in 1987, Barry was able to devote more time than ever to his lifelong hobby-his art.
Winters were spent in Murrell’s Inlet, S.C. and summers at his home in Orillia. Road Trips throughout North America and a cruise of Alaska provided a variety of subjects to paint.
Working in a number of mediums including graphite, pen & ink, water colours and acrylics, Barry’s primary focus is Canadian Wildlife.
“Wildlife has always held a special fascination for me. When I’m painting, the first thing I work on is the eyes. These are what give the picture life and what I’m trying to bring to the canvas.”
Barry’s commissioned and other works are displayed in several major coorperations and in private collections throughout the world.
Barry passed away on 2 February 2002.
