Allena was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario where she developed her love for nature. Her house overlooked Lac Deschenes, a part of the Ottawa River. Many summer days exploring the marshes and creeks around the water. She also loved being able to see the Laurentian mountains in the distance, with trees and there ever changing colours.
Allenna graduated in 1981 from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and then attended the University of Toronto for a Bachelor of Education. She moved to Mississauga in 1984 to teach for the Peel District Peel Board, and retired three years ago teaching Visual Art, Drama, and English. Now she spends her time riding her horse and painting.
The paintings on display reflect Allenna’s deep and abiding love for Mother Earth: Her fields, flowers, forest, streams and lakes. This love for nature also extends to animals, both domestic and wild, with feather, fur and fin! Allenna’s intention is to share the joy that she feels when she is connected to nature and animals
